New Swindon Recycling Site Online

Well, I was a freecycler on my local group, but i hate the format and the way the Yahoo Groups are used, and know how a forum format would be better so i made a site!

http://swindon.dansgalaxy.co.uk/recyclers

The site has been up for a day now, and i have already got about 10 members to sign up, and i am hoping to increase this further and get more people using my more user friendly site. :)

So please if you live in or near swindon (or are willing to travel alot :)) please sign up to the new Swindon recycling site.

Also WE NEED A NAME! so please vote in the Poll in the cafe so we can start to shortlist the ten candiates, also if you have a good name which isnt there please feel free to post it!

So sign up and get posting Swindon!

Dirty Joke.

Hey,

i saw this joke today, not belly crunching but hey its a joke!

Man goes to his doctor, he had multiple bruizes and bad concusion.

His Doctor says: “Woah what happend to you?”

The man replies, “Well me and my wife was playing golf.”

We tee-d off both balls flew into a near by field full of cows.

I went to retrieve our balls, and saw one sruck in a cows fanny.

So i shouted to my wife “Hey this one looks like yours!”…

I don’t remember much after that.

Anyone want to help build CMS?

Hey,

as i posted before i am trying to build a CMS and erm its hard!

The more i look the harder it gets. So i would like to kno if there is anyone who would be interested in helping out.

At this precise moment im looking to get a real basic framework done which i can build on.

which means i want to get the template system (i was looking at smarty but never used and am clueless) and the kind of basic structure, so the module structure and get some of the basic admin stuff in and once i have this framwork i should be able to really crack on and get alot done.

So is there anyone who is a skilled PHP programmer who would like to help me get the project off the ground.

Once i have this framework, i will then be looking for people to create the Moudules (Guestbook, Newsletter managent and alsorts like that)  as well as getting soem basic templates.

And of course javascripter(s) to help me get it looking and working a bit smoother

And also someone who has the design/CSS knack who could basically help me get the whole thing looking decent.

I know there is alot, but i really want to get this CMS built and usable.

All contributers will be credited approproiately.

Note: This is a unpaid project. If you send me quotes, or offers with a bill attached you will probably be told to go away, and i wont be polite :) i have said it so dont ask.

Please contact me if you think you can help in anyway at any stage.

Thanks Dan :)

I’m Building A CMS!

hi all, i havent had time to post anything for a couple of days but im here now :)

Ok, this whole saga started when i (begged) offerd to do a locla charities site, which frankly is shocking…

anyway i been playing with it for a while, and was basically amking it a CMS with site wide settings and what have you and i have now decided to basically write a full CMS properly

This CMS will eventually be template based

use Modules for the bits like guestbook and that kind of thing.

and it will have a complete file management system (which i am writing at this very moment)

and basically im going ot try and make this as professional and useable as possible :)

and i am trying to get it to be fairly generic as well so i can easily reuse it…

Ok ill post more when i have any more to say, please feel free to post ideas and that :)

Everything you know about HTTPS is wrong.

Ok i warn readers now this will be slightly a rant, but hopefully will also act as a warning.

Firstly i would like to explain a bit about HTTPS and to try and clear up some misunderstandings a lot of people seem to have about it.

HTTPS:// which stands for Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol Secure, which is a secure connection between you and the server. HTTPS is NOT a protocol in it’s self. HTTPS is exactly the same as HTTP except it has a extra layer of “security” called SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). When comparing HTTP and HTTPS the only “physical” difference is HTTPS uses a different TCP port (usually 443) where as HTTP uses 80 (or 8080 depending on server set up).

SSL was developed by Netscape for you guessed it sending files and information via the web (more…)

Vista (ultimate)

Okay, now a lot of people especially “enthusiasts” have warned me off of Vista, and i have had a few suggest the best thing i should do would be to delete Vista and go to Linux. While i am a “enthusiast” i still am (unfortunately) still clueless with Linux and am, okay i guess i can say it, I’m a Windows person!

I have upgraded from Windows XP Professional (SP2) to Vista Ultimate, and have to say i have yet to have any major problems what so ever, I was expecting to not like Vista, or at least find it so amazingly terrible to use i would think O’well its not worth it and continue with my XP Pro. But i didn’t, and now i have fully upgraded and no longer have any other Windows version installed.

Vista is a much smoother user expeience and has incorporated many features and software which usually would require seperate software, such as speach reconition. After trying out the speach reconition i had to decide it should be a area MS should improve on for Vienna…
