King Geek (or is it Geek King?)

As the title says I have just made the mistake of taking the junction to hell.. or at least PHP hell.

I am now slowly piecing together bits for a eco themed site project.

The site will (eventually) have a forum, blog (to the standard of wordpress), a custom made catelogue type system for items and possibly more (once all thats done).

Now its easy enough to install a forum (im opting for MYBB as its the best/most advanced which is free/open source) a blog and then write your own custom script.

But making them

a) look the same and blend well austetically.

b) use the same user system

c) JUST WORK!

is alot harder

At first i was planning to make the whole system completely custom made, and it soon became aparent to build a forum to the kind of spec like what is required just wouldnt be possible or feasable on my own.

So now i have the Mybb forum installed and im going to try and make everything else work on top of that.

I would like to use a wordpress blog and have it merge into it all, but that seems darn near impossible with out me recoding the whole thing (and then making it so i couldnt upate it easily when there is new wordpress updates.

But unfortunatle it looks like this is exactly what i will have to do… or just create own blog, and “borrow” some snippets for the layout and design etc from word press.

Well, what can i say, i started this blog whole heartedly hoping to be able to fill it with helpful crap…. and well i have completly failed in that.

Main problem is finding thing to talk about! i mean its amazingly hard when you try too hard.

 Anyway the dates approching when i make the leap from School to college only about 10 weeks left of school time, and i still havn’t got the college applications forms in, naturally this isnt all me just being lazy… i did bring them in… and then they got very wet and now i need new ones to do it all again…

I’m to be going to New College and do a BTEC Computing (software development) which i hope will be a fun and interesting subject to study, and i’m secretly hoping i know most of it all ready so im not too overloaded! (not that i’m cocky or anything…. :D)

At the moment im doing fairly well in school, jsut the dreaded coursework which is dragging me down as usual, and the teachers; currently being nagged by my textbook teacher, (this is my own phrase made by me so if u hear it anywhere else they been stealing!) text book teacher meaning all he seems to do is read out of a book or in many cases businessstudiesonline.co.uk and how can i put it isnt the most interesting teacher.

Also a little concerned the rumors about one of my teachers (and one i quite like too!) might be true :s. From what i know and what one of the other teachers i asked know he is simply ill but there’s alot of rumors that he has really been suspended.

 Okay im being a bit random now so i will end this post here.

i think i will probably write one as soon as i post this about all the projects im working on…

I got a script to day which i am moding up (alot!) into a simple host script so users can sign up, login upload files to a dir and manage those files.

Got this script which has the idea, needs alot of work but i mean DIDNT PEOPLE KNOW HOW TO CODE?!

 its hidious! :p all capitals and amazingly bad code! guh.

hey all, well i aint posted for ages because im lazy but i jsut want to say this.

 Okay so background story, on of my mums friends (whos a farther) his son typed in a search on google and went off while it loaded, his dad walks past and sees the result full of porn turns the computer off and tells him he cant us pc because its broke.

 Naturally i went to sort it out

and frankly i loved the way it worked, now dont get me wrong but i love this kind of stuff Lol

What this thing does is no matter what you search on google it replaces your results with porn, so you get one result which is normal, it then shows a huge big red warning box telling you that google results chnage or something because of spyware with a link (which if you click gives you even more,.,…) and then pages of links to alsorts of nasty porn.

so being the clever sod i am i didnt even bother scanning for virus i just disabled every add-on in IE restarted it, and check google and i had nice child friendly (ish) results.

had a quick play figuring out which suspicious plugin it was (it is called Video somthing.) and then (becuase it shows the DLL name) did a quick search found it under C:/windows/system32/ deleted it and it was gone, just had to disable and enable it in ie to make the tag vanish and its gone!

 Im hoping i can retrieve it from my recycle bin so i can have a look at how it works, but this one just really tickled me and i loved it

If anyone has this i may write a tutorial on how to remove it.

Ok, now heor a thread on my local haunt i was looking for strange facts, and came across a site with all the strange laws which havn’t been revoked.

These included a few weird ones which have never been enforced.

 One which i found.

By law you must eat turkey on christmas day.

It is still illegal to eat mince pies, as oliver cromwell made them illegal!

 - imagine the police ceasng all Tesco’s mince pies… :p

Well, I was a freecycler on my local group, but i hate the format and the way the Yahoo Groups are used, and know how a forum format would be better so i made a site!

The site has been up for a day now, and i have already got about 10 members to sign up, and i am hoping to increase this further and get more people using my more user friendly site.

hi all, i havent had time to post anything for a couple of days but im here now

 Ok, this whole saga started when i (begged) offerd to do a locla charities site, which frankly is shocking…

 anyway i been playing with it for a while, and was basically amking it a CMS with site wide settings and what have you and i have now decided to basically write a full CMS properly

 This CMS will eventually be template based

use Modules for the bits like guestbook and that kind of thing.

and it will have a complete file management system (which i am writing at this very moment)

and basically im going ot try and make this as professional and useable as possible

 and i am trying to get it to be fairly generic as well so i can easily reuse it…

 Ok ill post more when i have any more to say, please feel free to post ideas and that
